This outstanding RY100 shelving system by Hans J. Wegner was produced by Ry Møbler in the 1960s and remains a benchmark of Danish mid-century modern design. Crafted from richly grained old-growth European oak, it reflects the refined simplicity and thoughtful craftsmanship that define Wegner’s work.
Modular in every sense, the system can be easily reconfigured to suit changing needs—ideal for living rooms, studies, or expansive open-plan interiors. It also functions beautifully as a freestanding room divider, adding structure without bulk.
The setup includes nine adjustable shelves and one deeper shelf, suitable for use as a desk or for housing bulkier items such as a record player. A glazed sliding-door cabinet provides space to display treasured pieces, while the lower cabinet with sliding doors offers discreet storage—seamlessly blending form and function.
Expertly restored, the oak retains its rich patina, with some gentle fading that speaks to six decades of use and authenticity. Engineered for strength, the RY100 is capable of supporting substantial weight, making it not only visually striking but also highly practical.
A lasting expression of adaptability, craftsmanship and character—designed to evolve with your space and perfect for 21st-century living.
Note: If you’d prefer not to have the glazed cabinet, we can swap the doors for timber sliding doors that complement the lower cabinet.
